Britney Womanizer

Sadly the embedding has "been disabled by request" so i've just put a link to youtube for this video. I was watching this video after louise and I had started editing and were finding it hard to cut between different shot angles, and locations of louise's charcter, particuarly for footage thats is on the same line of the song.
But after watching this video (about a 50s in as an oily naked britney really isn't relavant here) the way it cuts here between britney in different wigs/out fits and the naked oily britney reminded me of what we were trying to do and I thought this was actually a really good example of the effect we are trying to create. The editing used in britney's video is quite fast paced on the chorus and on the beat and is very similar to the effect I want to create on our video.
After seeing how it is done here, I don't think our work looks so odd and jumpy, I think it works well as long as we make sure the timing is right. I couldn't think of any other video's that have a smillar theme to ours, as I think the many different Britney's is simlar to our good and bad character. Although Britney is mainly doing it for exsessive star status and advertising reasons, aswell as to be symbolic of all the women the "womanizer" goes through, probably not realising that there all her.
This video was directed by Joseph Khan who has also directed video's such as;
Muse- Muscle Museum
Destiny's Child- Say My Name
Britney- Stronger
U2- Elevation
D12- Purple Hills
Eminem- Without me
Dido- White Flag
Britney- Toxic
Blink 182- Always
Offspring- Can't get my head around you
Kelly Clarkson- Walk away and Behind these Hazel eyes and Never Again
Gwen Stefani- The sweet escape
Pussy cat dolls- When I grow up
So quite alot of big names and some really memorable videos, he started making video's in 1990, is a Korean American and has made about 125 music videos which I just really quickly counted off wikipedia! That is alot!

A Really Big Update!

Sorry to leave such a gap between posts, basically louise and I have been really busy filming and editing!
We filmed on the 7th, 10th and 14th of this month. On the 7th we did alot of the bury shots e.g. first verse and chorus, in the ally between Stead and Simpson and the Post Office in the town centre. This look's really urban and was quite empty except for annoying pedestrians who kept walking thorugh and stopping us from filming but it was really well lit, and looks urban which is great for the look of our video. :) We then went to the multi story and filmed the last verse and chorus, this all went well despite it being absolutely FREEZEING and taking about 5 hours in total as lots of costume changes were needed!
I uploaded the footage on the 8th and realised that quite alot of it was wrong and extremely grainy. Also because we used Lousies's camera to film as the one we took from school wouldn't turn on despite checking it at school and being on charge all night, the different format means all of our footage has been automatically "letter boxed". We can't do anything to change this apart from refilming everything which neither Louise or me wants to do!
Despite these hiccups we went on to film on the 10th inside Deja Voo where we filmed most of the second verse and all of the second chorus. As the battery had died when filming on the 7th preventing us from finishing the last few shots needed from the multistory we went back after Deja Voo, and were able to redo the bits which weren't quite right the first time along with more footage which we will hopefully edit on final cut with lots of "bad louises" in one shot. We still need to film the bits with louise in some kind of "cell" for the middle section of the second verse where the line is "i feel like i'm doing time" to keep up our theme of quite visual lyrics.
Louise and I have spent a great deal of time in room 101 during the last week of term after school, during free's and lunchtimes to upload our footage and edit most of it together. It's majoritly done now, it just needs fine tuning and for us to refilm a few small bits, e.g. more ally shots for the first chorus but we're really pleased with how quickly it's come together as an actual music video not just ideas and test shots anymore!
Our experiments with final cut have been successful and the shots look really good, we've also been successful in editing the footage together where we lined out four "bad louises's" with the amp tapping feet and dancing. We have managed to cut these together accurately for the lines "people i see everywhere are tapping their feet" and "everybody's grooving to their own song". Instead of having our good character amongst lots of ordinary people dancing as this idea went with the concept of the song (her being an outsider, an addict and realising she's not alone at the end of the song.) We've decided to use this idea of her seeming even more crazy yet comforted by her delusions of herself. Also we were finding it really hard to organise a filming day and location which was ok for alot of different people, and these shots will enable us to include a better range of footage and editing techniques.
Louise has done the editing on final cut whist i edited the Deja Voo footage through to most of the multi story bits as we felt working on two computers on different sections of footage would be much more efficent than two of us trying to work on one computer. This has enabled us to get so much of the editing done in the last week of term and i'm really looking forward to finishing it in January :) hopefully before the deadline....

Some Good News & Some Not so Good News

Here's an update of all new developments since we filmed and then lost the footage on Wednesday the 26th Nov.
Basically after many arguements and deliberation, based on our time limit for this project we have had to drop the wonderful Rosie from our cast :( Our scheduals kept clashing, and loosing the footage set us back a week, so me and louise finally agreed that the best move now would be for her to act in the video and for me to film it. Thankyou Rosie, so much for all your time but we have had to make some strict adjustments in order to meet our deadline!
After looking back at the footage we salvaged from our shooting day, it was also agreed that the countryside backgrounds, didn't really fit with the music. Although we wanted a variation of locations, especially to suit the two characters of our performer, we have decided to use more urben locations and more of a nighttime time frame for our video as it is more dance-y and the street lights and shadows fit with our "addiction" concept a lot better.
All going well Louise and I will get most of the filming done tomorrow (Sunday) and will be able to get the majorty of the editing done by the end of this term (the 19th-13 days away!)
Some other good news, after several failed attempts I managed to talk to someone from De Ja Voo, to be specific a nice man called Andrew who has given us permission to film inside the club on Wednesday the 10th from 2:30 till 4:30! :) hopefully this will go well too and we have the majority of our filming done by the end of this week! fingers very tightly crossed!
I don't think there is much more to say, apart form Louise and I just went out for an hour in Ixworth testing filming when its really dark, and with enough street lights we managed to get some realy good stuff, apart for the fact its 3 deegres outside and we were both freezing!
